Tampa Bay Downs Thoroughbred Racetrack

Originally opened in 1926, An American Thoroughbred horse racing track located in Tampa, Florida. Also well known as Florida Downs, the track hosts several races through December until May. The track has had a long history, and not only has a Thoroughbred horse racing facility, 1943 the United States army took over the track as a training facility, during the 1950’s it was also home to cover the popular attraction of many sportswriters to witness spring baseball training which legendary names such as Grantlad Rice.

Physical attributes include a one-mile dirt oval main track. The turf course seven furlongs with a ¼ mile chute. Tampa Bay Downs has long been famous for their thoroughbred race track in Florida, includes live racing auctions from December to May.

The track runs numerous graded and non-graded stakes and has set records in the past several years. One of the many Grade III stakes races include, but not limited to, Endeavour Breeders’ Cup Stakes.
